Proposal cookies

I had the honor to make cookies to help my brother ask his girlfriend to marry him! This set really meant a lot to me and I was please with the way they turned out.

It was actually my brothers birthday so I told his girlfriend I was making cookies for him as his gift. She helped me think of things he likes so I told her I would turn them into cookies. I told her to come look at them right before he was going to start opening his gifts... and when she opened the box she found these instead of golf, cooking, and LSU cookies

I thought I was really clever with the "Will you marry me?" cookie :)

Since the cookies didn't allow her to say no... she said yes! ;)

We made her give her answer using the cookies

The lace cookies were made using a technique from my friend Sweet Sugarbelle and I thought the technique was a perfect fit for these cookies!!

I see lots of cookies in the future for this couple! :)

Teacher appreciation cookies

I know teacher appreciation week was over a while back, but I still wanted to show these cute cookies my son helped make possible. I wanted to do something with a personal touch  and of course it HAD to involve cookies... so this is what I came up with. My son had 4 teachers last year and I knew there would be no way for me to get him to sit and write the same thing on a cookie four times. I had already also decided to do an apple and there would be no way to make the edible markers "pop" on the red background. I got him to write the words "Thank You" on piece of paper. Make sure the paper you give them is about the size of your cookies. You don't want to have to try to re-size it! I then stuck that paper into my kopykake and that is where I took over.

I piped over his letters in bright yellow icing so it would really stand out.

It was also so much faster for me to do it this way over getting him to write this 4 times.

I also let him draw each of his teachers a picture on a cookie which showed me yet another reason why this is a much better idea than having him take over on the cookies itself. He started to copy a cookie I had recently done for my brother to propose to his girlfriend. When I informed him he was going to have to give that to his teacher... he wanted a "do over". I had only prepared 4 cookies for him to draw on so there was no way he could draw something else. If I would have done these cookies this way as well, he could have just thrown that piece of paper away and started over easily. Here are the pictures that he drew. The top right cookie is the one he was embarrassed to give. I think its pretty adorable myself! :)

If you want to see more cookies using this method then visit my awesome friend Sweet Sugarbelle's blog to view the Father's day cookies she made with her kiddos! They turned out so adorable!

Creativity is #1

Since my daughter turned one today, I thought it would be appropriate for me to finally do this post. I have had it ready for a while, but life happened.

I am sure most of you have the Wilton letters and number set. I don't know about you, but I was never a fan of the 1 cutter that was included in the set. Rather than going by the cute copper cutter, I decided to make use of what I have for now. Here are the steps you could take to get a cute number 1 cookie using the uppercase I cutter.

Cut out your dough using the "I" cutter

Take a knife and cut off the top right part of the "I" so it is even with the center

Then make a diagonal cut to the top left portion of the "I"

Voila! A cute number one cookie in just a few simple steps!!

Here are some of those "ones" in action:

Maybe one day I will spring for a cute number 1 cutter... but for now... this works perfectly fine for me!

I'm still here!

Just a quick post so you don't think I have fallen into a black hole... never to return! I can't believe it has been over two months since my last post! Guess that tells you how busy I have been! Anyway... this is what I have been working on. I am just going to pretty much be posting pictures since my kids are yelling and chasing each other at the moment. Let's be honest though... pictures are really the main part anyway... right?

See... told ya I have been busy ;) Thanks for stopping by!
